November is a time to reflect on the people who serve our communities and our country. If you would like to show your appreciation locally, the City of Orlando's Veterans Day Parade offers an opportunity to gather in Lake Nona and honor veterans, active-duty service members, and military families.

Notice that the parade takes place on November 7, ahead of Veterans Day itself. Be sure to use the parade date when making your plans.
A community gathering with a meaningful purpose
The city describes this year's theme as “Veterans Helping Veterans and Their Families.” A ceremony is planned after the parade. The event is presented in partnership with Tavistock and the Lake Nona VA Medical Center.
For families, attending can create a chance to talk about service, gratitude, and the people behind the uniforms. You might invite a veteran in your life to join you, while allowing them to decide how they would like to participate.
Plan your visit
Before leaving, open the city's event page to review the route map and current parking guidance. The city lists street parking throughout Lake Nona and asks visitors to follow signs and instructions. Allow extra time for arrival, walking, and any event traffic.
I suggest bringing water, sun protection, and comfortable shoes. Choose a viewing spot that works for your group, keep pathways clear, and follow directions from event staff. If you plan to stay for the ceremony, check the latest information rather than assuming it ends at a particular time.
Discover the community around your next home
For anyone considering a move, exploring an area in person is a helpful part of the decision. Visit at different times, try the routes you would use, and consider how the surroundings fit your everyday needs.
If you would like help exploring homes in Lake Nona or elsewhere in the Orlando area, I am here to help.
